Modern Day Slavery

Trafficking, a "Modern-day-slavery" is a $150 billion, booming business where people are bought or sold into forced commercial sex and labor. It is a business spreading across the globe at an alarming rate. Trafficking is believed to be the second largest business in the world presently, next to the drug trade. More people are enslaved today than any other time in human history. There are about 35.8 million slaves in the world, most of whom are faced with horrendous suffering and abuse and have no means of escape.

Many may think that this cruel, ill-treatment of human life is only taking place across the ocean-that nothing so horrible could take place here in the United States or in Western society. If you're one of those, then think again.

Sex trafficking is reported to exist in all fifty states, with Colorado having the highest number of victims the last two years. As a result, hundreds of thousands of people are now victims of this inhumane business right in our own backyard.

In October of 2015, with the assistance of the FBI, the national sex trafficking sting rescued twenty teens in the Denver Metro area, with the youngest being just 13 years old. The city of Detroit came second with 19 victims rescued. In total, 149 underage victims were rescued nationwide, and 153 pimps were arrested during 2015. Victims of these crimes are used as prostitutes in the sex industry and are under the complete control of their traffickers who then sell them to others for more money.
