Female Genital Mutilation

W.H.O. defined FGM as the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia. It's the worst and most barbaric abuse against a woman's body. The side effects of the procedure are enormous, and they can take a toll on her physical and mental health for the rest of her life.

Most girls in Africa are now turning against the practice of FGM and are running away from their homes to seek help and shelters from relatives. However, instead of protecting them, these relatives would unmercifully turn them in to be mutilated. Sierra Leone, a country next door to Liberia has eighty-eight percent rate of girls who have been mutilated. It has the seventh highest rate among 28 countries that practice FGM in Africa.

This is one of the numerous reasons why a safe house or houses are needed to rescue girls who find themselves in similar crisis in Liberia and in most parts of the continent. We do know that this ministry isn’t going to be easy but by God’s grace, and with the backing of faithful men and women like you, we can help make a difference.
